The Initial Therapeutic Exam

What to Expect
A welcoming tour of our office and an introduction to all our staff begins your
Initial Therapeutic Visit.

The new patient exam is done entirely by Dr. Mills. We ask that you allow 1 to 2 hours for this very thorough comprehensive exam. Dr. Mills will begin the exam
reviewing your medical and dental history. You can discuss with Dr. Mills your dental
interests, concerns and goals at this time or throughout the exam.

The Initial Therapeutic Exam includes:
  • A Jaw Joint and Bite Function Exam
  • An Oral Cancer Screening
  • A Smile and Speech Assessment
  • Video Microscope Assessment of Oral Germs
  • A Panoramic X-ray
  • Four Bite Wing X-rays
  • A Tooth By Tooth Exam to assess decay and gum disease
  • If applicable..Diagnostic Impressions will be taken
Dental concerns are diagnosed and therapy is recommended. We never recommend a specific therapy without showing you the evidence to the therapeutic prescription because we believe that you are an essential part of the therapeutic team.

Herbert Mills Dentistry believes strongly in educating clients, providing visuals and multimedia presentations that explain diagnosis, procedures, therapy and any alternatives. You will be
equipped with the information to make informed confident health promoting therapy decisions.

The newest diagnostic technologies are used for early detection of any decay or disease thus assuring the most minimally invasive therapy is recommended. This also insures that dental hazards are treated effectively, before they can cause further discomfort, pain or a larger financial investment in the future.
